Free Android social apps have the power to make your life so much more fun and allow you to be more connected all the time. That is if you choose the right ones and know what to do with them. Otherwise, they could add more stress and pressure to your life. Well, that may be going a bit overboard, but seriously, without the right Android social apps, you won’t be fully utilizing the potential of your Android phone when it comes to social networking.

So, where do you find the right apps you might be wondering. Here are ten that will certainly get you on the right track if not completely fulfill all of your networking needs.

TweetCaster for Twitter
This is one of the many great free Android social apps that are centered on Twitter. This app lets you access your Twitter account, post and view content just like you’d be able to on the Twitter interface on your computer at home. It’s fast and very powerful; this app boasts being the #1 Twitter app. It also claims to have more features than any other Twitter app! If you’re into a lot of options, this is definitely the application for you.

Swift App for Twitter
This is another Twitter app that does everything quite well. This app is popular among people that want quick and lean access to their Twitter accounts. You can do almost everything with this app but there’s not too much excess that’s prevalent with some popular Twitter apps.

Twitter
There are endless Twitter apps; then there’s the official Twitter! Some may argue that other applications can give you more functions and a better overall experience, but this is the official app developed by Twitter. It’s your decision, but this app is certainly worth checking out.

Facebook for Android
This is the official app for the biggest social networking site in the world; excuse me, biggest site in the world! There are other apps that will give you access to your Facebook account, but there aren’t anywhere close to as many apps that cover Twitter. For this reason and because this does it all, there’s no reason to list any other Facebook apps here. I cannot believe I said so much about this app; it’s the official Facebook app- that’s all I should have said, grrr.

MiuMeet – Chat, Flirt & Dating
This app is all about having fun and meeting new people. It’s basically a dating app on steroids. It hooks into your phone’s GPS and finds people close to you. You can use it like any dating app: send messages, pictures and all that good stuff. This is pretty addictive; I warned you!

myYearbook: Dating & Fun
This is another dating app. This one is a bit bigger and boasts over 20 Million single guys and girls! That’s quite a few fish in the sea! It’ll be free forever which for any of you to ever sign up to a dating site knows is a huge deal! There’s nothing quite like meeting the person of your dreams and having to pay $39.95 to contact them.

Seesmic
This free Android social app is like none other on this list. It allows you to manage all of the social networks you’re in all in one place. You can not only see all of the posts and messages on your accounts but post to them too! This is a great app if you’re looking to simplify your social network mess as many of us deal with on a daily basis.

Foursquare
This free Android social app is a location-based program. What it does is helps you learn about new things in your city and connect with people in your area. It’s a real fun app to have if you’re an adventurous person looking to try new things. It would also be a great help for anyone moving to a new city. It’s just a great idea and it’s executed very well.

PingChat!
This app is part communication app part social app; it allows you to communicate in any way possible on your phone with your friends. The cool thing about this app is that it’s a completely cross-platform program which means you can have a conversation with your buddy on his iPhone and your dad on his Blackberry! It’s a fun app to have.

Truth or Dare
If only this app were around when I was a teenager… I’d have played my favorite game a bit more often. This app is ultra-cool because of all the seeded truths and dares. It also allows you to add your own dares which lets you tilt the game in your favor if you know what I mean!?!? Either way, however you slice it, this app is going to be fun… especially if you talk your crush into playing with you!

There are some amazing Android browser solutions out there that will enhance your browsing on your Android phone guaranteed.  That being said, there’s no reason you need to download one of these free Android browsers as the default browser will work for you. 

Here’s my guideline for whether you should download a new Android browser: if you use the Internet on your phone more than once per week, then you need to download one of these amazing Android browser apps.  That’s the point where it becomes more than just a good idea but an absolutely mandatory decision that needs to be made.

Enough of the small talk, let’s get to the best Android browser apps that you can download for free.  One last thing- as you can see there aren’t that many apps in this article.  The reason being is that there really aren’t that many big players in this niche.  Why?  Well, these aren’t your run-of-the-mill Android apps that can be developed in a day or a week.  These take time and money to create and the testing and refinement periods really never end!  Want another reason?  If you decide to download an alternative Android browser, these are the only ones that you need to consider, PERIOD.  And they’re all 100% FREE to download and use if you haven’t caught that yet!

Skyfire Browser (beta)

Skyfire for Android excels at delivering flash videos for your viewing pleasure.  It also gives you the option to view the desktop or mobile versions of websites- assuming they both exist.  This browser is solid, but not my absolute favorite.  Still, if you’re a video-junkie, this is the must have Android browser.  It displays videos better than any other web browser for Android, but IMO it lacks a bit in other areas.  However, I would absolutely recommend everyone check this out and maybe it’ll be your favorite! 

Dolphin Browser™ HD

This is the latest and greatest version of Android’s most popular browser.  So what does Dolphin Browser HD do that the original doesn’t?  They’ve concentrated more on the user experience with this new Android browser.  You’ll be able to navigate much faster throughout the browser with features like swiper through tabs and pinch zoom.  They’ve also decided to upgrade darn near everything that anyone may have taken exception to with the original Dolphin Browser™.  I really could go on for a few pages on the new features and why you should download this free Android browser, but I’ll let you discover all the possibilities yourself. 

Opera Mini Web Browser

The Opera browser is solid and it’s one of the two best available right now.  It does everything pretty well and I promise there will be times you’ll completely forget you’re on your phone and not on your home PC.  It’s reliably fast and the data from the sites hardly ever overwhelms your phone.  The display is very simplistic and easy-to-use and overall is a very solid Android browser.

Just like Dolphin Browser, the folks at Opera have released a newer- souped up version of their browser.  Opera Mobile web browser is the extremely new (released just two days ago on November 9^th, 2010) beta opera browser app that is going to be the next generation for Opera Android browsing. 

This app is sure to be a monster- in time.  I just don’t know if I would jump in right now.  I would definitely keep it on your radar and check it out in a few weeks to see the progress its making.  Most of the bugs will be worked out by then and it will be much more stable.  This is all assuming you’re not a first adaptor- in which case, download this new Opera Android experience now and work it out! 

Enjoy whichever Android browser you choose and if you’ve picked off this list, you really can’t go wrong!

So why should you even bother with these Android SMS replacement apps?  Well, first off, they’ll likely save you money as they’re all essentially free to text and send messages.  How much they’ll save you is up to you.  Do you dump your messaging plan all together and fully rely on one of these apps to work 100% of the time?  I’m not sure if I’d go that route, but by using these Android SMS replacement apps, you could surely cut down on your rate if wanted. 

I would argue that the #1 reason you should try all these Android SMS apps and eventually choose one for your daily use is all the added features you’ll have.  If you are a text-aholic and want more than your factory SMS features, you NEED one of these apps. 

These Android SMS Apps do much more than you’d ever imagine they could do.  They’ll organize your texting chaos and your contacts while stimulating a few more of your senses while going on your next text binge.  I’m not sure if this is a good thing for some of you, but for those of you that have your texting urges in check, it’s a great thing!  Either way, all of these apps will surely be an upgrade to the interface you’ve been using to text on your Android phone until now!

Why are there only 4 apps on this list?  Good question!  Simply put, IMO, these four Android SMS apps are so much better than the rest, I felt it would be better to just leave this list at 4 rather than taking anything away from these great Android SMS apps.  In fact, unlike just about every other article I’ve written, these apps are listed in order from 4th best to the best Android SMS App you can download and use as an SMS replacement for your Android phone right now! 

WhatsApp Messenger

With this Android SMS Application, you can send and receive messages, pictures, audio and video messages at no cost to you – at least for the first year (WhatsApp Messenger plans to charge users for their services after you’ve owned the app for one year)!

As you can see in the screenshot, the user interface of this app is very simple and easy-to-use.  It’s arguably the plainest UI of the 4 Android SMS Apps listed here.  It certainly does the trick though…

Kik Messenger

This SMS Android App has only been available for 3 weeks (as of November 8, 2010) and already over a million people have decided to use this app instead of their factory SMS interface!  That’s quite impressive growth for a new app.  It’s easy to see why as it does everything you’d want an SMS platform to do.  It’s easy-to-use and looks great.  It boasts being “Crazy Fast” and when testing it, I would have to agree with their claims.  Now that they’re fully cross-platform and it’s free to use for any Smartphone to Smartphone interaction, I certainly would suggest you all try this app (along with the other 3 on this list to find your absolute favorite).

chompSMS

This is the 2^nd most popular SMS Android solution.  Like Handcent SMS, this app really does it all and does it very well.  You’ll have plenty of options available to make this app your own.  If you like the chat bubbles, you’ll be able to integrate that.  Or, if you like the sleek, minimalist look, that can also be achieved.  As you can see in this screenshot, there are multiple  

Do you want to spice up your SMS interface?  What’s this SMS Android app’s claim to fame?  I’d have to say the level of customization available.  If you were to look at 10 people’s chompSMS interfaces on their phones, you’d probably only see a couple of them look the same. 

Handcent SMS

You really won’t know what your phone is capable of until you’ve downloaded this Android SMS app and are using it everyday!  Is Handcent SMS really that good?  Probably better actually.  If you are texting without this app, it’s like eating food with no taste buds.  Sure, it’s possible, but you’re not getting the enjoyment that most get out of it.  This is one of the rare apps that I’m not going to list any of the features as I don’t want to dilute the “Holy S&#$” moment that you’ll have when you download and use this amazing app for the first time!  Enjoy!

Handcent SMS

One thing that makes this app a bit more appealing than the rest: it’s more established.  There are numerous other free apps available made by the same developer that are just slight upgrades to this Android SMS app.  If I had to choose just one of these- which I have- it would be Handcent SMS hands down!
